Hibernation in windows vista is a good option for you,if you want to enable hibernation you can enable it or if you want to disable this feature you can disable it.You can do manually via command prompt.What you have to do is just follow these steps:
1.Click Windows start button and in search bar type cmd.
2.After this right click and Run as administrator.
3.And after this if UAC appears then click allow or continue.
4.And now in the command prompt window,type:powercfg -h off (for disable) and type:powercfg -h on (for enable)
5.Now enter it and restart your system.
