Facebook and orkut are two of the most popular social networking sites,both are having high and similar features.I do have access to both an orkut and facebook account and find myself using orkut the majority of the time(india).Facebook is very popular in north america over the last few months whereas orkut is extremely popular in india.Many indian prefers orkut because orkut is very simple and very easy to use.Both have nice features and they both are very famous in different countries.
**FACEBOOK
Facebook was initially a website reserved strictly for students of harvard University.It was launched in february of 2004 and gradually extended its membership to include students from other universities across the globe.And the main thing is that Fcebook is particularly known for its photo sharing feature.
**ORKUT
Orkut is run by google the site was launched in january of 2004 and named after orkut Buyukkokten, the turkish google employee responsible for its creation.Orkut helps you meet new friends and get in touch with old ones and also permits the creation of community forums that users can be part of.
But sometimes i feel that facebook is having more users than orkut!Orkut traffic reduced by 7.7% last year while facebook traffic increased by 69.5%.So which one is popular? The choice is yours.Lets see in future which social networking sites will rule the world.
