WHY DO WE GET WHITE MARKS ON OUR FINGERNAILS SOMETIMES?

As you know, nails are an extension of our skin.Except for the pale half moon or lunula at the base most of the nail is made of keratin or dead cells.Occasionally white irregular flecks or spots appear in the nails. These are simply bubbles of air trapped between the cell layers and are harmless. They may be caused by exessive pressure on the base of the nail. The popular belief that these white spots indicate good luck or the number of good friends or enemies you have is,of course, baseless.Although our nails do relect our general health, the white spots that sometimes appear do not indicate sickness.

Pale nails may indicate anaemia:biting nails shows a nervous disposition;bluish nails'a lung or heart ailment.
