DO YOU WANT VITAMIN D FROM THE SUN,HOW?

                                                      One of my friend told me that,Vitamins are substances that are required in tiny amounts to help in processes like digestion of food,assimilation of that food,elimination of wastes etc.

     The chief function of vitamin D is to maintain the right proportion of calcium and phosphorous in the body.

     Bones are formed from calcium and phosphorous.Therefore vitamin D plays an important role in the healthy growth of the bones.This vitamin is especially important in babies and young children whose bones are in the process of rapid development.

      Vitamin D is often called the ‘sunshine vitamin’.When the ultraviolet rays of the sun fall on the skin,vitamin D is produced.The natural oils in our skin are changed by the sun’s rays to form vitamin D.Vitamin D is also present in some of the foods we eat like egg yolk hmmm yummy my favorate ,fish-liver oil,milk and yeast.Lack of vitamin D leads to poor absorption of calcium.This gives rise to bowing of the legs,softening of the bones etc.If you want to get a free dose of vitamin D,you may obtain it from the morning rays of the sun.But do not expose your skin for more than half an hour every day.Too much of exposure can have harmful effects.
